The Ridgeline design from our Nashville, Tennessee collection, on a blanket.
This one is real data. We took elevation data for a 20 x 20 mile square centered on downtown Nashville, sliced it into 26 west-to-east profiles, and stacked them from north to south. Every bump on every line is actual terrain, smoothed a little so the lines print clean.
Inside the square, the ground runs from about 390 feet along the Cumberland River to about 1,160 feet on the highest hills, roughly 800 feet of relief. It takes in the river valleys of the Cumberland, Stones and Harpeth Rivers and high points like Holt Knob and Patterson Knob near the edges of the square.
Yes. Each line is a real west-to-east elevation profile across a 20 x 20 mile square centered on downtown Nashville. The map on this page shows the exact area.
Nashville sits in a basin ringed by hills and knobs. The lines are scaled so you can see that shape, and the biggest bumps are the high ground on the edges of the square.
