The Ridgeline design from our Murfreesboro, Tennessee collection, on a ornament.
This one is real data. We took elevation data for a 20 x 20 mile square centered on downtown Murfreesboro, sliced it into west-to-east profiles, and stacked them from north to south. Every bump on every line is actual terrain, smoothed a little so the lines print clean.
Inside the square, the ground runs from about 502 feet to about 1,367 feet, roughly 900 feet of relief. The gentle rolls are the Middle Tennessee basin, cut by the West Fork Stones River, the Middle Fork Stones River, the East Fork Stones River and Stewart Creek as they gather into the Stones River.
Yes. Each line is a real west-to-east elevation profile across a 20 x 20 mile square centered on downtown Murfreesboro. The map on this page shows the exact area.
The lines are scaled so you can see small changes. The higher ground comes from the hills and knobs ringing the Stones River basin, with flatter cedar glade terrain closer to downtown.
