The Ridgeline design from our Johnson City, Tennessee collection, on a magnet.
This one is real data. We took elevation data for a 20 x 20 mile square centered on downtown Johnson City, sliced it into west-to-east profiles, and stacked them from north to south. Every bump on every line is actual terrain, smoothed a little so the lines print clean.
Inside the square, the ground runs from about 1,384 feet to about 4,107 feet, roughly 2,700 feet of relief. That rise is the mountains of upper East Tennessee, ridges like Clarke Mountain, Stone Mountain, Fork Mountain, Pinnacle Mountain and Buffalo Mountain, with the Watauga River, the Nolichucky River and the Doe River cutting through the valleys below.

Yes. Each line is a real west-to-east elevation profile across a 20 x 20 mile square centered on downtown Johnson City. The map on this page shows the exact area.
The tallest ridges in the square include Clarke Mountain, Stone Mountain and Fork Mountain, with Buffalo Mountain among the named peaks closer to town.
